|APYG Education Package Information|
|From the 5th 10th of October, Wheelchair Sport Victoria, with the support of the Australian Paralympic Committee and the State Government, is hosting the inaugural Australian Paralympic Youth Games (APYG).|
This is the first multi-sport, multi-disability youth event of its kind that will provide opportunities for talented young athletes with a disability from Australia and overseas to compete in a range of 6 Paralympic sports.
|As part of the APYG, schools are offered the opportunity to participate in a free APYG Education Package. This package invites these groups to attend the APYG and be offered the following: |
Wheel Talk disability awareness session (45mins)
Practical activity (wheelchair basketball and/or wheelchair relay races) (45mins)
Tickets to spectate at least 1 sports event (45+ mins)
In addition to participating in the Education Program (presentation, activity and event spectating), there is also the opportunity to bus in the rest of the students from your school/ tafe/ university to spectate the many events on offer. A competition timetable is still being finalised however it can be confirmed that there will be competition held from Monday 5th Saturday 10th October in 6 different sports. The days and times will vary according to the sport. The sports on offer include:
CP Football (Cerebral Palsy, 7-a-side)
In addition to the competition, there may also be the opportunity for your school to watch the opening or closing ceremonies.
