New Gippsland Uniforms

GippSport's Access for All Abilities Program have purchased two sets of Gippsland uniforms which can be borrowed by any group who is representing Gippsland at an event or for an exhibition style game between Gippsland teams.   To borrow the uniforms contact patrick@gippsport.com.au


Nilma Darnum FNC Nominated for regional award!

The Nilma Darnum Football Netball Club is a nomination for the 2010 State Regional Achievement and Community Awards. The club is a nominee for the environment and sustainability section which relates to its use of “C” class and storm water to irrigate the oval. As a consequence the club is saving about 2.5 million litres of water a year. The 45 000-litre water tanks were installed at the reserve to store run- off from the roofs of club buildings and “C” class water piped 1200 metres from Fonterra’s dairy processing plant.
 
Award winners in eight categories will be announced on 16 October 2010.

Liquor Licensing Club Seminar (“Licensees First Step”)

GippSport in conjunction with Good Sports and the Victoria Police is holding a Liquor Licensing Club Seminar for sport and recreation clubs on Monday 30 August 2010 at the Morwell Club, Helen Street, Morwell from 7.00-9.30pm. The session will cost $15.00 per person.

Supporting Country Cricket

Cricket VictoriaGippSport in conjunction with Cricket Victoria is making Level 1 Coaching more accessible by providing localized coaching at an affordable cost.  Courses will be run in Leongatha 8th August, Traralgon 15th August, Warragul 22nd August and Newborough 29th August.  Bookings are essential with full cost for the day $115 or $15 for holders of a Health Care Card.  For full details go to www.cricketvictoria.com.au or contact Rob Wood at Cricket Victoria on 5662 5293.


Local Netball Coaches get a boost.......

Netball VictoriaLeongatha & District Netball Association have teamed up with GippSport and Netball Victoria to host a free Netball Coach Mentoring Program for coaches in the South Gippsland and Bass Coast region.  The program aims to provide training for local qualified coaches, then link mentors with new coaches as a way of supporting up and coming and inexperienced coaches.

Online Training with Play By The Rules

Play by the Rules offers free online training courses for coaches, administrators, officials and players about their rights and responsibilities under discrimination and child protection laws.

The courses are short (taking no more than two hours), may be done in part or all at once, and make extensive use of case studies.

Users who successfully finish a course and its assessment module can print a certificate of completion.

Football (Soccer) ACE Competition

Have your Football ACE "Group Stage" accreditation completed and approved by Wednesday 25 August and your club will go in the draw to win one of four $500 vouchers to Sporting House Direct, Darebin, FFV’s retail partner.

More Australians are getting active

New research released last month shows that almost 50% of Australians aged over 15 participated in regular physical activity (at least 3 times a week) in 2009.

The 2009 Exercise, Recreation and Sport Survey (ERASS) Annual Report reveals that an estimated 8.2 million people are involved in regular physical activity and that since 2001 regular participation has jumped 11 percentage points, from 37% of the population aged over 15 in 2001 to 48% in 2009’.
